The POW Options Menu

This menu allows you to change several things about the way POW looks. There are nine actions on the POW Options menu:
  1. Change Background Color will bring up a dialog box with color sliders. Play with the sliders until you get a color you like.
  2. Change Font will change the font used in the main POW window (the lower left area of POW). Clicking this will bring up a dialog box where you can type in the name of a color to use for the backgrounds of POW's windows. See an X users guide or manual for a description of X font names. The command 'xlsfonts' will give you a (long) list of all the fonts known to your X server.
  3. Resize Main Window on Expand: If this box is checked, POW will get bigger or smaller (as far as possible) whenever you change the objects in the main POW window, so as to show you everything currently displayed in the main POW window without scrolling.
  4. Show Linked Axes: If checked, pink lines will be drawn between linked axes. See the POW Overview for a description of how linked axes work. This function does nothing in fv at this time.
  5. Grid Line Options: You can toggle the grid on or off and choose dashed and colored grid styles for the currently selected graph. More options are available from the Edit Graphs dialog box.
  6. Main Cursor Shape: You can choose from a few standard X cursors for the form your Mouse cursor will assume in the main and scope windows.
  7. Curve Options: From the resulting dialog box one can control the default display styles (color, point shapes, etc) for line plots. See Curve Options for details.
  8. Decimal/Base 60 Axis Labels: You may choose decimal degrees or HMS format for the axis labels on your graphs and for what shows up in the Coordinate tracker. This only applies to graphs which contain images with WCS coordinate information.
  9. Save Current Settings will write a file in your home directory (~/.powrc) saving your current choices for the appearance of POW. There are a couple of extra default parameters that can't be changed in the GUI but which are saved in this file. You can play with these if you're feeling brave.
