ECDFSRSSAM - Radio-Selected Extended Chandra Deep Field South Source Catalog

Overview

In order to trace the instantaneous star formation rate (SFR) at high redshift, and thus help in understanding the relation between the different emission mechanisms related to star formation, the authors have combined the recent 4-Ms Chandra X-ray data and the deep Very Large Array radio data in the Extended Chandra Deep Field-South (E-CDF-S) region. They find 268 sources detected both in the X-ray and radio bands. The availability of redshifts for ~ 95% of the sources in their sample allows them to derive reliable luminosity estimates and the intrinsic properties from X-ray analysis for the majority of the objects. The present table lists the X-ray properties and redshifts of these 268 radio-selected sources.

In the E-CDF-S area, the authors have two sets of X-ray data obtained with Chandra. The most important is a 4-Ms exposure observation resulting from the co-addition of 54 individual Chandra ACIS-I exposures from 1999 October to 2010 July, with centers spaced within a few arcseconds of RA = 03:32:28.80, Dec = -27:48:23 (J2000). The authors use the data from the new VLA program which provides deep, high-resolution 1.4-GHz imaging across the full E-CDF-S, consisting of a six-pointing mosaic of 240 h spanning 48 d of individual 5-h observations (Miller et al., 2008, ApJS, 179, 114). The E-CDF-S area has been targeted by a large number of spectroscopic surveys. For the X-ray sources, the authors use the spectroscopic redshifts published in Xue et al. (2011, ApJS, 195, 10).

Provenance

This table was created by the HEASARC in May 2013 based on CDS Catalog J/MNRAS/420/2190 files table2.dat and table3.dat.

Parameters

Name
The Chandra source designation created by the HEASARC based on the source numbers given in the original tables. In the latter, Table 2 contained source numbers from Xue et al. (2011, ApJS, 195, 10: the HEASARC CHANDFS4MS table) while Table 3 contained source numbers from Lehmer et al. (2005, ApJS, 161, 21: the HEASARC CHANEXTDFS table): these have been given the prefixes of '[XLB2011]' and '[LBA2005]', respectively, in the names adopted herein, e.g., '[XLB2011] 469', '[LBA2005] 752'.

RA
The Right Ascension of the Chandra source in the selected equinox. This was not given in the original tables in the source reference (Vattakunnel et al. 2012) but was taken from Xue et al. (2011, ApJS, 195, 10: the HEASARC CHANDFS4MS table) for sources with name prefixes of '[XLB2011]' or from Lehmer et al. (2005, ApJS, 161, 21: the HEASARC CHANEXTDFS table) for sources with name prefixes of '[LBA2005]'.

Dec
The Declination of the Chandra source in the selected equinox.

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the Chandra source.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the Chandra source.

Table_Sample
This HEASARC-created parameter indicates from which published table the given entry originated: 'E-CDF-S' sources come from Table 3 of the reference paper while 'CDF-S-4Ms' sources come from Table 2.

Redshift
The spectroscopic or photometric redshift of the source.

Spectral_Index
The slope, Gamma, of the intrinsic X-ray emission of the source modeled with a power law.

Spectral_Index_Error
The uncertainty in the X-ray spectral index, Gamma.

NH_Limit
This parameter is set to '<' if the corresponding Hydrogen column density is an upper limit.

NH
The measured absorbing Hydrogen column density of the intrinsic X-ray emission of the source, in atoms cm-2.

NH_Pos_Err
The positive error in the measured absorbing Hydrogen column density, in atoms cm-2.

NH_Neg_Err
The negative error in the measured absorbing Hydrogen column density, in atoms cm-2.

SB_Lx
The luminosity in the soft (0.5 - 2 keV) X-ray band, in erg s-1. The HEASARC believes that these are the intrinsic (rest frame, unabsorbed) source luminosities.

SB_Lx_Error
The uncertainty in the luminosity in the soft (0.5 - 2 keV) X-ray band, in erg s-1

HB_Lx
The luminosity in the hard (2 - 10 keV) X-ray band, in erg s-1. The HEASARC believes that these are the intrinsic (rest frame, unabsorbed) source luminosities.

HB_Lx_Error
The uncertainty in the luminosity in the hard (2 - 10 keV) X-ray band, in erg s-1.
