Overview

The Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) First Gamma-Ray Burst Catalog is a listing of those GRBs that were detected by the Fermi Large Area Telescope since the beginning of nominal science operations in August, 2008. The compilation of these detections provides a systematic study of high-energy emissions from GRBs for the first time. The catalogued detections were determined by the Fermi Project through examination of GRBs detected by the Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM) on Fermi.

M. Ackermann et al., 2013, ApJS, 209, 11. This first LAT burst catalog covers a 3-year period from 2008 August to 2011 August (the start of the LAT "Pass 7" processing). This catalog uses the entire "Pass 6" event data set, in particular, the Pass 6 version 3 Transient event class ("P6_V3_TRANSIENT").

Provenance

This database table was created by the HEASARC in March 2014 and is based on the data published by the Fermi-LAT Collaboration.

Parameters

Name
This is the designation of the gamma-ray burst. The naming scheme used is GRByymmddx, where yymmdd is the 2-digit year, month, and day of the burst and x is an optional alphabetical suffix 'A', 'B', etc. appended to differentiate multiple bursts occurring on the same day.

Time
This field contains the Fermi LAT trigger time, which is the arrival time of the first burst photon.

Trigger_Time
This is the time in Mission Elapsed Time (MET) format (seconds since 2001-01-01 00:00:00 UTC).

RA
This is the detected Right Ascension of the burst.

Dec
This is the detected Declination of the burst.

LII
The Galactic Longitude of the burst.

BII
The Galactic Latitude of the burst.

Error_Radius
The radius of the uncertainty in the position of the burst, in arcseconds.

Position_Angle
The off-axis angle (theta) of the source relative to the LAT pointing direction, in degrees.

Max_Energy_Photon_Number
This is the number of the highest energy photons detected by the LAT during the burst, based on the time-resolved analysis.

Max_Energy
The energy, in GeV, of the most energetic photons detected by the LAT during the burst, based on the time-resolved analysis.

Max_Energy_Arrival_Time
The earliest time of arrival, in seconds, relative to the trigger time, of the most energetic photons detected by the LAT during the burst, based on the time-resolved analysis.

Max_Energy_Photon_Prob
This is the probability that the most energetic photons are associated with the burst, based on the time-resolved analysis.

Temporally_Extended_Flag
This boolean flag indicates a temporally extended burst. The value is 1, if the LAT burst detection lasted longer than the GBM burst detection, and 0, otherwise.

Fluence
This is the fluence of the burst in the 10 keV to 10 GeV energy band, in erg cm-2.

Best_Fitting_Model
The best model fit to the joint GBM+LAT burst spectrum during the GBM burst interval. Possible model values are the following: Band, Band with exponential cutoff, Band + power law, Band + power law with exponential cutoff, Comptonized, Comptonized + power law, or Logarithmic parabola.

T05_LAT_Limit
This is the limit flag ('>') for the 5% LAT burst duration value.

T05_LAT
This field contains the time, in seconds, relative to the trigger time, when the integral distribution of background-subtracted burst counts reaches 5% of the total integrated background-subtracted burst counts.

T95_LAT_Limit
This is the limit flag ('>') for the 95% LAT burst duration value.

T95_LAT
This field contains the time, in seconds, relative to the trigger time, when the integral distribution of background-subtracted burst counts reaches 95% of the total integrated background-subtracted burst counts.

T05_LLE
This field contains the time, in seconds, relative to the trigger time, when the integral distribution of background-subtracted burst counts measured in the LAT LLE data reaches 5% of the total integrated background-subtracted burst counts.

T95_LLE
This field contains the time, in seconds, relative to the trigger time, when the integral distribution of background-subtracted burst counts measured in the LAT LLE data reaches 95% of the total integrated background-subtracted burst counts.

TS_Max
This field contains the value of the Test Statistic (TS) for the burst.
