SEARCHES FOR COHERENT PULSATIONS IN THE X-RAY FLUX OF THE SOFT TRANSIENT, CEN X-4, IN QUIESCENCE
ABSTRACT
A 40 ksec follow-up observation of Cen X-4 is proposed to confirm the 31 msec pulsations detected in the AO-1 data in 95onfidence level. If the pulsation is detected at the same sets of orbital parameters and at the same frequency, the significance of pulsations increases by more than several orders of magnitude. If the detection is confirmed, this will be the firm evidence of the pulsar recycle senario, and imposes strong constraints on the strength of the magnetic field of neutron star in low mass X-ray binaries.
