RESOLVING THE FE KALPHA LINE IN BROAD-LINE RADIO GALAXIES

ABSTRACT

We propose to observe the broad-line radio-galaxies 3C227 and 3C332. Both sources are prototype examples of disk-like emitters, as their respective optical nuclear Balmer lines are very broad, and in the case of 3C332 with double peaked profile. The goal of the proposal is to resolve the Fe Kalpha profile in those sources which, if produced in the putative accretion disk, should present double-peaked profile Stricts limits to accretion disk model and black-hole masses will be inferred by combinig the information derived from the Balmer and Fe line profiles. Both sources are well suited for ASCA spectral resolution as they are sufficiently bright in the X-rays and their FWOI for the FeKalpha line is expected to be larger than 100,000 km/s.
