SEARCH FOR "FAILED" CLUSTER OF GALAXIES

ABSTRACT

The ratio of stellar mass and total baryonic mass including hot intracluster gas indicates formation efficiency of galaxy from primordial gas. If this ratio become zero, we can expect the existense of hot gas with no association of galaxies. A search for such gas, if exist, is essential information to study the evolution of primordial gas including dark matter. We propose ASCA observation of the best candidate of such large cloud of hot gas with no visible galaxies selected by Einstein and elemental abundance information of them will give strong constraint on the origin of them.
