INVERSE-COMPTON X-RAYS FROM LOBES OF RADIO GALAXY 4C73.08

ABSTRACT

We propose to observe radio galaxy 4C73.08 with giant radio lobes morphology. ASCA's new method of measuring magnetic fields of radio lobes through detecting inverse-Compton X-rays has made a remarkable success. According to this method, we need not assume energy equipartition between the fields and particles to obtain the magnetic field strength. This source has no apparent radio core with no knots or hot spots. In addition to these characteristics, radio polarization map of the galaxy has been obtained. Thus, by comparing with the radio results, we can expect ASCA to bring us a new aspect of figuring out the magnetic field structure of the radio galaxy.
