OBSERVATION TO FOLLOW UP THE SERENDIPITOUS SOURCE NRAO58

ABSTRACT

During ASCA observation of the distant cluster: CL0107+31, we detected a serendipitous source near the cluster(11'off). Observed flux is 1.3E-12 ergs/sec/cm^2. Its position is coincident with the radio galaxy, NRAO 58, which has never been identified, and whose redshift has not been known, too. We found this new X-ray source tends to extend, and the spectrum of the center region is harder than that of all region, but we could not distinguish between thermal and non-thermal emission. Therefore we guess the X-ray emission consists of a point-like radio galaxy component and a diffuse cluster component. We want to confirm the origin of the X-ray emission, and determine the distance of the source.
