THE SHAKHBAZYAN'S COMPACT GROUPS AS POSSIBLE DARK CLUSTERS

ABSTRACT

Significant hard X-ray emission has been detected with ASCA from a number of galaxy groups. The hard X-rays, presumably of non-thermal nature, suggest that the intra-group space is a site of extensive particle acceleration. In order to test this hypothesis, we propose a 80 ksec observation of the Shakhbazyan' compact group No.202 (SCGG 202). Although this compact group has a very high galaxy density and a high velocity dispersion (450 km/s), its X-ray properties is totally unknown.
