A NEW NEARBY X-RAY BRIGHT CLUSTER, RXJ0419.6+0225

ABSTRACT

A new, very nearby (z=0.0123) poor cluster, RXJ0419.6+0225, was discovered in the ROSAT All Aky Survey. It is among the brightest clusters in the 0.1-2.4 keV band, with the X-ray flux reaching a quarter that of the Centaurus cluster. Nevertheless, it is dominated by a single elliptical galaxy NGC1550, with little optical evidence for clustering. We propose a 80 ksec ASCA observation of this fascinating nearlest dark cluster.
