A NEW TEMPERATURE FUNCTION FOR DISTANT CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES

ABSTRACT

The evolution of the cluster X-ray temperature function has been used extensively to constrain cosmological parameters. This test requires both local and distant samples of clusters with measured temperatures. The local temperature function has been determined by several authors with good agreement. However the distant sample comes from only one survey, the EMSS. We propose to determine an entirely new distant cluster temperature function in order to investigate systematic effects. Our new sample comes from the recently completed North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) survey in which all object are within ~4.5 degrees of the NEP.
