Inputs

The user input are performed through XView windows which allows for full-screen input, and runs in a user-friendly manner. The information is needed to identify the input files and get the parameters for the output map.

TRANSMAP Input Window

The user may select the input counts file to be transformed by clicking on an entry in the scrollable list. The list is made up of all counts.* files found in the FITS_DIR directory. Conversely, the user may type-in the input file name in the bottom input field if the name is not on the list. The selected file does not stay highlighted because of possible conflict with the name entered by the user. The output map coordinate system is shown to the user and depends on the coordinate system of the seleted file.

The other required input are the 2 coordinates of the output map reference point which by default are the map pointing direction coordinates and the bin size of the output map which also default to the input map values. The reference point is used so that a point along the meridian through it in the old frame, remains on the meridian through the origin in the new system. The TRANSMAP input window is shown in figure 1 (larger).
