C Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Q. My spectrum has a bump near 50keV and the spectrum below that looks strange. What's going on?
    A. You may have an observation that combines x1 and x2 detector gains. If this is the case, see example ?? for information on how to separate the two instrument settings.
  2. Q. I HATE using IGORE! How do I get my spectra into a form readable by XSPEC?
    A. If you're using the High Level Products, observation summed XSPEC- compatible FITS files are available in the high-level archive.
  3. Q. SPECANAL fails when I try to execute the batch job.

    A. One possible reason is that SPECANAL can't find the version of IGORE to run. You need to set IGRTST or IGRCM in your LOGIN.COM file.

  4. Q. I want to compare spectra with the same energy binning, but FITIT keeps choosing it for me. How do I make FITIT generate spectra with the energy bins I want?
    A.
