EXOSAT RAW LE Catalog FITS File
This file serves as a summary of all Low Energy (LE) instrument
observations stored within a FOT (Final Observation Tape) file.
This FITS file contains a single binary table extension. The content is
based on the screen output of the LISTD command from the Interactive
Analysis - LE package.
Column Description:
- START : Start time in sec (SHF)
- STOP : Stop time in sec (SHF)
- MJDSTART : Start time in MJD (days)
- MJDSTOP : Stop time in MJD (days)
- RA_OBJ : Object Right Ascension (deg) measured in degrees in
the B1950.0 system of coordinates (0°, 360°). Taken from the
Auxiliary Data File (ADF): Observation Description Record 2.
- DEC_OBJ : Object Declination (deg) measured in degrees in the
same system as above (-90°, +90°) from ADF.
- RA_PNT : Pointing Right Ascension (deg) desired pointing
direction in degrees as above also from ADF.
- DEC_PNT : Pointing Declination (deg) desired pointing
direction in degrees as above also from ADF.
- SUBMODE : Submode from LISTD. Obtained from the Observation
Directory Record. These are the function selections set for particular
On Board Computer (OBC) programs. Typical values are (comb1, comb2,
hsr1, inactive). The setting determines which type of data records
was generated by the OBC program.
- FILTER : Filters values (clsd, PPL, 4Lx, OPEN, Fe Cal, Al/P, 3Lx, Bor,
UV) correspond to the Filter Wheel Position Numbers 1 through 9. The
filters, in order, are: closed, polypropilene, 4000Å Lexan (thick), open,
Fe55 calibration source, Aluminum-parylene, 3000Å Lexan (thin),
Boron, and Magnesium Fluoride. These are from the LE Telecommand Readouts
in the Observation Directory.
- FILENAME : Associated product file prefix (suffixes .hk,
.fits) the filenaming convention is ``exYYMMDD_HHMM_HHMM_submode_filter''.
- GRATING : Transmission Grating in place (in/out). From the LE
Telecommand Readouts in the Observation Directory.
- DETECTOR : Detector (cma1, cma2). The Channel Multiplier Array
Detector with the LE1 telescope (cma1) or with the LE2 telescope (cma2)
- HIGH_TENSION : High tension parameter or AGC setting. When
using the CMA detector this is the HV1 & HV2 settings. When the PSD
detector is used this is the AGC setting (1.0, 0.66, 0.5, 0.33). From
Telecommand Readouts in the Observation Directory.
- POINTING_CODE : Pointing code from LISTD. ``s'' - slewing,
pointing of 1 is most stable.
- BACKGND_FILT : Background rejection filter types OFF, DIAMOND,
SQUARE. These filters mask part of the detector field of view.
- FIELD_VIEW : For the DIAMOND filter the column element
contains, x & y coordinate of origin of diamond and size of the
diamond from the origin to the vertex, (range -512,511). For the
SQUARE filter the field contains, lower limit for x, upper limit for
x, lower limit for y, upper limit for y, (range -512,511). For no
filter the field contains ``ALL''.
- SOURCE_NAME : Source name from ADF
