A series of images from the Ray Tracing Experiments performed by Lalit Jalota at NASA/GSFC in 1993 Jan - Mar. There are a total of 34 files, each containing a single calculated 2-dimensional point spread function image for different off-axis positions in the focal plane. Due to the symmetry of the telescopes, only one quadrant of one telescope is mapped. The grid is regular in ALPHA-BETA space, where ALPHA & BETA are cartesian coordinates in the focal plane, with 4 arcmin spacing.

The file naming convention used is:

astrod_image_$i$_$j$.fits

where

• i represents $\alpha$ (in arcmin) and has values i = 00, 04, 08, 12, 16, 20, and
• j represents $\beta$ (in arcmin) and has values j = 00, 04, 08, 12, 16, 20.

• The following files are NOT available:
  • astrod_image_04_00.fits
  • astrod_image_20_20.fits
• We assume the ALPHA = 0 & BETA = 0 vectors intersect the physical joins between mirror quadrants.
• No s/w currently exists to automatically access these datasets should an off-axis position in one of the other 3 quadrants be required.
  A Virtual calibration file & associated task is required.
