The SAS-2 redistribution matrix file is in the standard redistribution matrix FITS format for X-ray astronomy (see the document CAL/GEN/92-002). There are 7 input and 8 output energy channels. The input channels span the energy range from 20 MeV to 500 MeV, though the channel from 200 MeV to 500 MeV is the integral above 200 MeV.
Unlike most X-ray detectors where the redistribution matrix does not depend on its position in the detector, the redistribution matrix for a sparkchamber can, as it is does for the COS-B Spark Chamber. In the case of SAS-2, only one redistribution matrix is given, because the statistics are not sufficient to be able to distinguish between two or more matrices at different zenith angles.
