HEASARC ServicesObservatoriesThe HEASARC provides a description of all the high-energy astronomy observatories (missions) ever launched. These descriptions include an overview, technical information on the instrumentation, a bibliography and a gallery of images. Information about future missions, and mission comparisons are also available.ArchiveAccess to the archive of high-energy astrophysics observation data and general catalogs is provided via Browse. Other resources such as NVO, SkyView and Literature links are provided. Data restoration status and completion levels for all the HEASARC's data holdings are also documented.CalibrationThe HEASARC's calibration database (CALDB) system stores and indexes datasets associated with the calibration of high energy astronomical instrumentation.SoftwareDownloadable software is provided. The HEASARC's software is mainly designed for professional researchers and advanced students for the analysis of scientific astronomical observations in FITS format.ToolsThe HEASARC's web-based tools are designed to assist scientists in their proposal and general data analysis efforts. The HEASARC provides these tools as a service to the scientific community.Education & Public InfoThe HEASARC provides a number of facilities for students, educators, and the general public to learn more about the universe. The general public and students from elementary school to college age will find informative material on topics ranging from the solar system to black holes to distant galaxies. Education materials for teachers include activities and lesson plans which use concepts and data from high energy astrophysics in interdisciplinary lessons appropriate for math and science classes. Scientists will also find materials and images for their use in presentations before a variety of audiences. |
