As of May 2002, the HEASARC's public data holdings (the anonymous ftp area)
were about 2660 GB, including some duplicate datasets on the CD jukebox and
some still proprietary datasets. The biggest mission archives are RXTE (40% of
total), and ASCA (25%), with CGRO and ROSAT each ~7%, XMM-Newton 5%,
EXOSAT and BeppoSAX each ~ 4%, and EUVE and HETE-2 each ~2%.
In the last 12 months the HEASARC archive growth was about 1.4 GB per day
(~500 GB over the year), to which the rapid growth of the XMM-Newton Archive
and the opening of the HETE-2 Archive were major contributors. The growth rate
in 2002-2003 is expected to be similar to that of last year.
