Raw Data

The raw data are data provided in their native format. They are available from the HEASARC ftp side for that mission/instrument box marked in green. Software to read the data is not always available.

FITS Raw Data

The FITS raw data correspond to files that map in FITS format as close as possible their native format. With few exceptions, the reformatted FITS data follow the OGIP standards. The yellow boxes indicate that not all of the raw data sets (either not all the observations or not all the data types) were converted in FITS format.

FITS Products

The FITS products consist in files containing three types of data: images, lightcurves and spectra. The data products available for each instrument are only those which are the result of a direct measurament for that instrument.

Depending on the mission/instruments, they were generated either from the FITS raw data or reformatted in FITS format from product databases generated during the mission lifetime or just after the post-operational phase. The yellow box indicates that not all products are available, either because there are missing observations or because not all the possible data product types were generated.

GIF Products

These data are plots or images in GIF format of the FITS products. The boxes are color coded the same as their corresponding FITS products.

Calibration

Calibration data includes response matrices to use with the spectral files, and/or calibration data to use with the analysis software of the raw FITS data, in order to generate high level products.

Analysis Software

This column flags the availability of software to extract high level products from the FITS raw data. The FITS products can all be read by the Ftools/XANADU suite of programs.

Data Volume

The data volume corresponds to the compressed volume given in Gbytes. Several compression algorithyms are in used for the different data sets (Unix compress, .Z, gnu zip, .gz and zoo, .zoo ).

Complete

This column flags whether HEASARC or the project is committed to do more work on the specific data set.
