ROSAT Guest Observer Facility

How is the background map scaled?

(8/22/91)

The normalization is performed as follows: the observation is split into annuli about the center, the inner two arcmin of data are tossed out, all point sources are tossed out, and the remainder is smoothed. This process serves as a normalization for the predicted background map. NOTICE: If your source is extended, the predicted background map WILL be affected.
