PROS-2.0 reports tossing out PH/PI channels above channel 256. What is the software doing?

The channels above 256 are above the upper-level discriminator and thus can not be used. However, in the conversion from PHA to PI bins, there is a finite probability that some upper-channel photons will fall into the channels above 256. PROS tosses these out, and alerts the user.
