ROSAT Guest Observer Facility

Are there any PROS-related coordinate problems?

(2/15/94)

Versions of PROS prior to 2.0 showed some coordinate problems when analysis was carried out on a subsection of an image. There are no known problems in later versions. Accuracy of position determination in PSPC observations depends on the accuracy of the attitude reconstruction, the method of centroiding used for position determination, and the number of photons in the source. Typically, relative positions are accurate to ~5 arcseconds.
