<title>&#x22;The Sudden Death of the Nearest Quasar&#x22; (13 Dec 2010)</title>
<link>http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/objects/heapow/archive/normal_galaxies/voorwerp_suzaku.html</link>
<description>Hanny&#x27;s Voorwerp is a cloud of ionized gas near the galaxy IC 2497. The degree of ionization of Voorwerp implies that it is irradiated by a powerful quasar, yet none is detected with Suzaku. It is therefore likely that the quasar in IC 2497 has shut off within the last 70,000 years.</description>
