Approved But Unimplemented AO-4 Key Project Targets
In AO-4, four Key Project proposals were selected by the Suzaku project. However, only a subset of targets from these selected proposals are selected for implementation during AO-4 (Apr 2009-Mar 2010). The remaining targets, totaling 2.7 Msec, are eligible to compete for the 2 Msec of AO-5 Key Project time, along with any new Key Project proposals that are submitted in AO-5 and selected by the national reviews. See call for Key Project proposals for further details of this process.
On the other hand, the above call states that "if a target proposed in a Key Project appears in a regular GO proposal with an equal or longer observing time and is ranked A or B, the target will be awarded to the PI of the regular proposal, with full one-year proprietary rights." We therefore list below targets in the ongoing Key Project proposals that are currently not scheduled to be observed during AO-4. The rules allow independent teams to submit a competing regular proposals for these targets, but any such proposals will need to compete against the AO-4 Key Project proposals at the international merging meeting. Also, it is conceivable that some of these targets may be observed during the AO-4 period.
