Point-Spread Function

Calibration documentation describing the measured in-flight point spread function for the six UVOT broadband filters can be found in the Swift UVOT Calibration Documents page. Recent work suggests that the FWHM value in this document are underestimated. The best estimate of the FWHM (as of 2008 July 18) is approximates 2.5 arcsec for all filters. The curves of growth for the six filters that are found in that document are correct.

The PSF is known to vary slightly possibly with orbital position and/or voltage. Further investigation is underway to fully characterize the variability of the PSF.
