Teldef File Issues
Updated September 1, 2009The 20090528 release of the Swift/UVOTA CalDB contains a revised set of teldef files for all dates since launch. Unfortunately the files that are valid for 2007-09-11 and later contains a small error in the rotation angle of approximately 10 arcminutes. The affected files are listed below. These files should not be used.
- swuvv20070911v002.teldef
- swubb20070911v002.teldef
- swuuu20070911v002.teldef
- swuw120070911v002.teldef
- swum220070911v002.teldef
- swuw220070911v002.teldef
- swuwh20070911v002.teldef
These files are being replaced by corrected files in early September 2009. The corrected files are listed below.
- swuvv20070911v003.teldef
- swubb20070911v003.teldef
- swuuu20070911v003.teldef
- swuw120070911v003.teldef
- swum220070911v003.teldef
- swuw220070911v003.teldef
- swuwh20070911v003.teldef
Any UVOT SKY images generated using the 20070911v002 teldef files will contain small errors in the celestial coordinates of sources. These errors are automatically corrected by the aspect correction process. SKY files with the ASPCORR keyword set to "DIRECT" have been corrected. SKY files that were not aspect corrected (ASPCORR = NONE) have not been corrected. Although these incorrect teldef files were included in the 20090528 CalDB release, they have not been used for the pipeline processing. Any UVOT images in the Swift Data Archive should be unaffected by this problem.
