Input Files

1. Input OGIP-compliant spectral dataset. The structure of an OGIP-compliant spectrum is detailed in [2], but for the purposes of arfgen the dataset must contain the following information:
   • The global attributes
     • DATE-OBS
     • INSTRUME
     • TELESCOP
     • DATAMODE
     • FILTER
     • RA_PNT
     • DEC_PNT
     • PA_PNT
     • REFXCTYP
     • REFXCRPX
     • REFXCRVL
     • REFXCDLT
     • REFYCTYP
     • REFYCRPX
     • REFYCRVL
     • REFYCDLT

   • A table named SPECTRUM. If the user has generated a spectrum over a selected region or regions, this table must also contain DSS information corresponding to those regions. This information can be added by evselect to the spectrum during its creation by setting the evselect parameter writedss to true.

   • The above also applies for the cross-region spectrumset.

2. Input detector map. This is an array specified by the parameter detmaparray and containing the following information:
   • A 2-d array of any numerical type. The sum of all pixel values must exceed zero.
   • WCS attributes which describe the celestial coordinates represented by the image which will include the keywords CTYPE1, CRPIX1, CRVAL1, CDELT1, CTYPE2, CRPIX2, CRVAL2, CDELT2.

   This map is only used by arfgen if detmaptype is set to 'dataset'.
