ASCA Weekly

Dear ASCA Users;

I am sending an ASCA observation schedule for the week of September 17-24.

KSC operations on August 12 were canceled due to the hit of a big Typhoon
to the Kagoshima area. Operations on August 13 were also not possible to
repair the damage of ground support equipment. We have urgently operated
ASCA on Sunday (August 14) to return to the normal observations as possible as
early. Due to this trouble we lost 80 % of the allocated exposure time
for NGC 1365 and 100 % for NGC 1386 (unfortunately both are targets of
K. Makishima). We will install reobservations of these targets in the
next visible period.

We observed GRO J1655-40 with ASCA on August 23 and detected a bright
(about 70 mCrab) source at the position of optical nova.
