ASCA weekly

Dear ASCA users,

Today (May 5) we are testing the function of Z-gyro which was replaced
yesterday. The test was satisfactory so far up to the third passes at KSC.
I am confident that we can move to the scheduled regular observations after
the final overall maneuver test toward RXJ 0658-5557.

We made small mistakes in the schedule released yesterday. We need two
pointings to M82 to supplement the loss in the last two weeks and we must
allocate Stacy's three pointings for PKS 2155-305 in coordination with CGRO,
which will appear in the next short-term schedule.

F. Nagase

(news) A dozen ASCA papers, including GIS instrumentation, appeared in the
recent Publication of Astronomical Society, Japan (PASJ, Vol. 48, No. 2, 1996).
