1) Latex Processing of AO-3 Proposals

NOTE: The AO-3 proposal template when processed by some
implementations of latex produces postscript files which will
have a couple lines of text shifted off the top of the page of
US letter size paper. If this is the case for your hardcopy there
is a simple fix. Change the "\topmargin=-2.5cm" command
(line 24) to "\topmargin=-1.5cm".

2) XMM-Newton Target Visibility Checker - Radiation level estimate

The Visibility Checker now gives the estimated (average) radiation
level compared to the minimum detected.

This factor gives an indication of the expected radiation level and is
mainly of relevance to very weak and/or weak extended sources. In
those cases where you want to observe such sources and the factor
indicated is > 4, it may be prudent to find an alternative target to
achieve your science goals. This factor has been estimated from the
background in the off-axis region of RGS1 CCD#9, which is dominated by
soft protons. Monthly average radiation plots for the last 3 years can
be seen as a Postscript file.

3) Inclusion of Color Figures in Proposals

Submitted proposals will be sent to reviewers on CD. This means that
color figures will be initially visible to the reviewer.

4) XMM-Newton Nifty Science/Pretty Picture Submission

If you have some nifty results and some pretty pictures, please send
