SAS Users Guide updated
-----------------------

The Users Guide to the XMM-Newton Science Analysis System has been
updated for SAS version 15.0 in order to include the latest information
on data analysis methods and updated SAS tasks.

The guide is available from the XMM-Newton Proposer's Info and Manuals
Web page (Section: Data Analysis) at:

http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/xmm-newton/documentation/

The html version of the SAS Users Guide can directly be accessed under

Details on XMM-Newton related Ph.D. to become publicly available
----------------------------------------------------------------

As explained in previous Newsletters (see e.g. issue #173), the
XMM-Newton team is collecting information about the completion of
doctorates and Ph.D. theses based on (or making use of) XMM-Newton
observations.

So far, received information was only used internally by the SOC. In
the framework of mission evaluation, ESA's Science Programme Committee
(SPC) has been provided with statistical information about publications,
including now also doctorates and Ph.D. theses. As a consequence this
information will also be made public.

We will inform about the availability of a dedicated web page in a future
Newsletter.

Yours sincerely,

XMM-Newton SOC
