2nd X-ray Astronomy School Announcement



                                           2nd X-ray Astronomy School
                                                    August 18-22 2002
                                  Coolfont Lodge, Berkeley Spring, WV

                               Deadline for registration: May 31 2002



We are pleased to announce the opening of registration for the 2nd
X-ray Astronomy School. The school will be held from the evening of
August 18 to the early afternoon of August 22 at a Spa resort in the
mountains of West Virginia.

The program for the school has not been finalized but the topics
covered will include :

1) Examples of data analysis methods and problems in the main scientific
    areas covered by X-ray astronomy (clusters of galaxies, AGN, normal
    galaxies, X-ray binaries, CVs, pulsars, supernova remnants,...)

2) X-ray production mechanisms.

3) X-ray detectors, with an emphasis on operating satellites and new X-ray
    technologies.

4) X-ray data analysis techniques (spectral, timing, and imaging) and
    their problems.


The school enrollment is limited to 45 -- Registrations will be accepted on a
first-come, first-served basis.

The deadline for registrations is May 31, 2002.
