HEASARC News: IXO Science Meeting



International X-ray Observatory (IXO) science team meeting - January 28 - 29, 2009


There will be a meeting of the International X-ray Observatory (IXO) science
team January 28 - 29, 2009 in Cambridge, MA at the Royal Sonesta
Hotel on the Charles River.  Participation by all members of the IXO science
team is encouraged, as well as members of the scientific community interested in IXO.
Members of the previous Con-X and XEUS teams are particularly encouraged to attend.

This IXO science team meeting will focus on preparing for the upcoming U.S.
Decadal Survey. The meeting will feature presentations by the IXO Science Definition Team,
the Instrument Working Group, the Telescope Working Group, and the ESA, JAXA and NASA
projects. There will be updates on the mission configuration from the recent ESA
Concurrent Design Facility (CDF) and NASA Mission Design Lab (MDL) efforts.

Registration closes on Jan 14. The registration fee includes a dinner at the Boston
Museum of Science on Wednesday night - we will have exclusive access to the 'Blue Wing'
of the Museum including the T-rex display. You can reserve a room at the Hotel by
calling 617-806-4200 and asking for Reservations, reference 'IXO Workshop'.
More information, including a link to reserve a room on-line, is available on the
IXO web site at ixo.gsfc.nasa.gov.  The hotel is holding a block of rooms for
us only until Jan 14. 

A preliminary agenda is below.  Note that on the afternoon of Jan 28 and the 
morning of Jan 29 we plan to have a series of talks on the science white papers 
which will be submitted to the Astro 2010 Decadal  Survey.  On the afternoon of 
Jan 29th there will be time to discuss the science input to the Decadal panels.
