Migration of XMM-Newton Web Pages
=================================

The XMM-Newton SOC website is in the process of being migrated to the
ESA-Research and Scientific Support Department, RSSD, departmental
web server systems. This migration aligns the XMM-Newton SOC website
with the latest web technologies and will allow the SOC to offer
improved web based services in the future.

During the migration process, which began on Monday 14 April 2008, it is
expected that some services may be temporarily unavailable as they are
moved to the new systems. Most of the outstanding issues of the
migration are expected to be solved by Friday 18 April 2008.

The URL of the XMM-Newton SOC remains http://xmm.esac.esa.int , however,
some pages within the website will change location. Consequently, users
may need to update their browser bookmarks appropriately. Please note
that the URL http://xmm.vilspa.esa.es will be no longer valid.

The XMM-Newton SOC apologizes for any inconvenience this migration
may cause to users.

XMM-Newton Conference "The X-ray Universe 2008":
Deadline of early registration submission
================================================

As announced in issue #71 of the XMM-Newton Newsletter, the
XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre is organising a major
astrophysical conference from Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th May
2008 in Granada, Spain.

The decision about grants and contributed talks for oral and poster
presentations has already been taken and communicated to the participants.
A list of contributed talks will be available on the 18th of April at the
conference website.

DEADLINE FOR EARLY REGISTRATION SUBMISSION IS 18th of APRIL.

There will be a guided tour through "La Alhambra" of Granada on Thursday
the 29th or on Tuesday the 27th (depending on the number of interested
people) of May starting at 21:30. The deadline for booking tickets for
the Alhambra visit is the 18th of April. The ticket request has to be done
via the ESA Conference Bureau Website at http://www.congrex.nl/08a13.
We cannot guarantee tickets for people registering after that date.

School Announcement:
"Urbino 2008: High Energy Astrophysics Summer School"
=====================================================

HEASARC/NASA and ASI/ASDC are pleased to announce the Summer School:

        "Urbino 2008: High Energy Astrophysics Summer School"

which will take place on 28 July - 1 August 2008 at the University of
Urbino, Urbino, Italy.

The High Energy Astrophysics Summer School is aimed at enhancing
interest in the area of high-energy astrophysics and at providing
knowledge and expertise in data analysis techniques.

Much emphasis will be given to data analysis. Students will analyze
data from current missions and will apply data analysis techniques
to different astrophysical sources. The school is tailored for
students at the end of their Masters degree or at the start of their
PhD. The school attendance will be limited approximately to 30 students.
The selection will be made on the basis of the CV and the description of
the student present activities and interest.

Registration must be submitted before 9 May 2008. To register, go to the
registration Web page at http://universe.nasa.gov/urbino/registration.html

Yours sincerely,
XMM-Newton SOC
