The VERON93 database is the 6th edition of the Veron-Cetty & Veron
"Catalogue of Quasars and Active Galactic Nuclei (1993)." It contains
data for 7383 (+54) quasars, 1855 AGNs, and 171 BL Lac objects. For more
information, see VERON-CETTY M.P., VERON P.: 1993, ESO Scientific Report 13.
Name
The name of the object if known.
Alt_Name
For sources found not to be quasars, the number of the source in the 4C Radio
Source Catalog.
Flag_RA
Right Ascension flag is an `O` or `R` meaning an optical or radio position
measured with an accuracy better than 1".
RA
Right Ascension of the object.
Dec
Right Ascension and Declination of the object.
Radio_Detect
This is Yes if the object has been detected as a radio source and No if it is
not a radio source.
APPMag
V magnitude of the object when known.
BV_Color
B-V magnitude of the object when known.
UB_Color
U-B magnitude of the object when known.
Flag_APPMag
This is a flag describing the type of magnitude used in APPMAG: blank
indicates a V magnitude, PHOTOGR means that a photographic magnitude
(and colors, if given) is given, while R means that the R magnitude is
given.
Redshift
The redshift of the object.
Flag_Redshift
This is a flag which qualifies the REDSHIFT: ~ means that the redshift
was estimated from a low-dispersion, slitless spectrum, while > means
that it is a lower limit.
Flux_6_Cm
Six centimeter flux in milli-Jy.
Ref_Flux_6Cm
Reference for six centimeter flux.
Flux_11_Cm
Eleven centimeter flux in milli-Jy.
Ref_Flux_11Cm
Reference for eleven centimeter flux.
Xray_Detect
`Xray Detect` indicates whether the object has been detected in the X-ray range.
Object_Type
The class identification, as found within the data. The following are the
possible entries, and their explanations:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S1: Seyfert 1 spectrum
S2: Seyfert 2 spectrum
S3: Seyfert 3 or liner
S?: possibly a Seyfert
H2: nuclear HII region
HP: high optical polarization (>3%)
BL: confirmed BL Lac object
G: galaxy
*: Star
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old_Object_Type
The original class identification. Here are the possible values with
explanations:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S1: Seyfert 1 spectrum
S2: Seyfert 2 spectrum
S3: Seyfert 3 or liner
S?: possibly a Seyfert
H2: nuclear HII region
HP: high optical polarization (>3%)
BL: confirmed BL Lac object
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Class
BROWSE classification of the object. In the case of sources found not to
be quasars, this is the value of the NEW class definition.
Ref_Chart
Reference for the finding chart.
Ref_Photometry
Reference for the photometry.
Ref_Redshift
Reference for the redshift.
Ref_Object_Type
Reference for the new class evaluation for sources found not to be quasars.
