Overview

The FPCSFITS database is a listing of the Focal Plane Crystal Spectrometer photon event data. It was created in October 1992 and contains one entry for each of the 436 FPCS FITS files.

Description

This database is a listing of the photon event FITS files on the CD-ROM and allows access to any of the actual files from within BROWSE. Each entry contains source names, start and stop times, coordinates, energy, and number of events in each FITS file.

Data Products

The data products associated with this database table consist of FITS spectra and events files.

The FPCS photon event data were originally released on CD-ROM in June 1991 by the HEASARC group at NASA/GSFC. The FPCS was a Bragg spectrometer on Einstein whose purpose was to obtain high-resolution (E/delta E = 100 - 1000) spectra of cosmic X-ray sources in the 0.2 - 3 keV range.


Parameters

Name
The name of the source. The FITS keyword `OBJECT`.

Time
The start time of this observation. FITS keywords `DATE-OBS` and `TIME-OBS`.

End_Time
The stop time of this observation. FITS keywords `DATE-END` and `TIME-END`.

Major_Frame
The beginning major frame in 40.96s bins since launch. FITS keyword `MJFBEG1`.

RA
The Right Ascension in degrees. FITS keyword `RA`.

Dec
The Declination in degrees. FITS keyword `DEC`.

LII
The galactic longitude, calculated from the given RA and Dec.

BII
The galactic latitude, calculated from the given RA and Dec.

Energy
Nominal energy of the observation in keV. FITS keyword `ENERGY`.

Bragg_Angle
Nominal Bragg Angle in degrees. FITS keyword `BRAGGANG`.

Detector
Instrument detector number, either 1 or 2. FITS keyword `DETECTOR`.

Photons
Number of events in this observation. The number of rows in the second extension of the FITS file.

Title
Title of the observation. FITS keyword `OBSTITLE`.

File_Name
FITS filename. Each FPCSFITS database entry has one FITS file associated with it.
