GRBCATFLUX - Gamma-Ray Bursts Catalog: Fluxes and Fluences

HEASARC
Archive

Overview

This table is an associated to the GRBs Catalog and lists the fluxes and fluences of the GRBs. Each record contains a flux and a fluence as detected by an observatory for a given energy range. If for a given GRB flux and fluence are reported by several observatories, the table contains separate records for each of the observatory.

If an observatory measured flux and fluence in different energy bands, the table contains separate record for each energy band. The table therefore can contain several records associated to a given GRB depending on the number of observatories providing measurements and on the different energy bands.

The measurements are reported as found in literature with the units used by the original authors and not always flux and fluence (and their errors) are both present. The literature references are provided in the GRBs Catalog main table which is linked to this flux table.

References

References for the individual records in this table are available in the "reference" field of the GRBCAT main table.

Provenance

This table was ingested by the HEASARC in June 2008 based on electronic versions obtained from the author(s), who compiled the catalog in 2005.

Parameters

Record_Number
This is a numerical value that uniquely identifies a record within this database.

Id
This is a unique numerical value assigned to each GRB. Since for a given GRB there can be more that one record, this numerical value is assigned to all record associated to a specific GRB.

Name
This is the name of the GRB. The name are assigned following the "GRB YYMMDD" or "GRB YYMMDDn" if multiple bursts occur within a day, where n is a character string.

Observatory
Name of the observatory that detected the burst.

Flux_Mod
In literature the flux is not always given as an exact value. This parameter records the symbol reported in literature for the approximation (<, >, ~, etc).

Flux
This parameter contains the peak flux measurement. The units are either ergs/s/cm^2 or photons/s/cm^2 and the parameter flux_units reports a flag for the units.

Flux_Error
This is the peak flux error. The units are either ergs/s/cm^2 or photons/s/cm^2 and the parameter flux_units reports a flag for the units.

Flux_Units
This parameter contains a flag to indicate the units for the flux measurements. It is set to ergs if the flux units are ergs/s/cm^2 or photon is the flux units are photons/s/cm^2.

Flux_Energy
This parameter contains the energy range for the flux measurement. This is a string and the values are listed in keV.

Flux_Emin
This is the lower band of the energy range for the flux measurement. It is provided in keV units,

Flux_Emax
This is the upper band of the energy range for the flux measurement. It is provided in keV units.

Fluence_Mod
In literature the fluence is not always given as an exact value. This parameter records the symbol reported in literature for the approximation (<, >, ~, etc).

Fluence
This parameter contains the fluence measurement. The units are either ergs/cm^2 or photons/cm^2 and the parameter fluence_units reports a flag for the units.

Fluence_Error
This is the uncertainty in the fluence. The units are either ergs/cm^2 or photons/cm^2 and the parameter fluence_units reports a flag for the units.

Fluence_Units
This parameter contains a flag to indicate the units for the fluence measurements. It is set to ergs if the fluence units are ergs/cm^2 or photon is the fluence units are photons/cm^2.

Fluence_Energy
This parameter contains the energy range for the fluence measurement. This is a string and the values are listed in keV.

Fluence_Emin
This is the lower band of the energy range for the fluence measurement. It is provided in keV units.

Fluence_Emax
This is the upper band of the energy range for the fluence measurement. It is provided in keV units.

Flux_Notes
This field contains notes on the flux or fluence measurements. This is filled only when the data taken from literature do not match the fields in the database and additional explanation is required. The same field is present also in the main GRB Table.
