The following rules are used in the file naming notation throughout this ASCA science processing WWW site:

A list of the files included in the guest observer distribution tapes is available.
If you like, you can look at other information or the processing steps.

Rules:

  1. File names are always printed in a "proportional font" if your Web browser allows it.

  2. Anything outside of brackets is used literally in the filename. For example "ad" represents "ad".

  3. A bracketed set of values separated by slashes means any one of those values may be used. For example "g[2/3]" represents either "g2" or "g3".

  4. A single word in brackets represents a particular string of digits as follows:

Note:

On some Web browsers (e.g. Mosaic) the underline which signifies a link will obscure the underscore character "_" often used in file names. In this case an underscore will look like a blank space. Here is an example: "under_score".
