OBSERVATION OF PSR1823-13

ABSTRACT

We propose to observe a young pulsar PSR 1823-13 and its surrounding for 40 ksec. There is no known supernova remnant associated in radio band. However, our analysis of ROSAT PSPC data shows possibility that a supernova remnant surrounds this pulsar. As observed around other pulsars, strong pulsar nebula emission is also expected at ASCA band. Studying these emissions in addition to that from the pulsar leads to the total understanding of this system, including the particle acceleration around the pulsar. Taking advantage of good sensitivity and high energy resolution of ASCA, we are going to obtain the energy spectra from surrounding SNR, pulsar nebula, and the pulsar. Timing analysis of the pulsar is also useful to study its emission mechanism.
