RELATION BETWEEN MOLECULAR OUTFLOW AND X-RAY EMISSION OF MASSIVE PROTOSTARS IN A GIANT MOLECULAR CLOUD: NGC 6334

ABSTRACT

To understand an energetics on protostars, both molecular outflow and X-ray emission should be studied. We propose an ASCA observation of a giant molecular cloud, NGC 6334, which contains 3 luminous outflow objects. With Nobeyama/CSO CO observations, we found an evidence of outflow activity of X-ray emitting protostars discovered with ASCA in rho-Ophiuchi molecular cloud. Based on the outflow geometry and activities, we expect strong X-ray emission from the outflow sources. This region is so extensively observed in infrared and radio waves that X-ray detection is valuable for the study of massive protostars in a giant molecular cloud. Since Einstein satellite detected X-rays with S/N ratio of 4.5, ASCA can easily detect hard X-rays from embedded massive protostars.
