MULTIWAVELENGTH OBSERVATION OF THE SUPERLUMINAL SOURCE GRO J1655-40

ABSTRACT

We propose to observe the galactic superluminal source GRO J1655-40 (Nova Scorpius 1994) simultaneously with radio, optical, X-ray (ASCA/XTE), and gamma ray (BASTE). Among three known galactic jet objects, GRO J1655-40 is the unique source identified as a blackhole candidate through mass determination by optical observation. It is the best target to study the X-ray emission mechanism of blackhole, the origin of jet, and its relation to AGN. We request to cover the full orbital phase to investigate the system completely. Our ASCA observation should provide the key information to understand the object.
