ASCA OBSERVATIONS OF GIANT HII REGIONS IN THE SMC
ABSTRACT
The characteristics and evolution of SNRs in HII regions are unclear since they are difficult to be observed because of the contamination by surrounding HII regions. However the Einstein satellite detected several SNR candidates in the giant HII regions in the SMC, which were confirmed to be SNRs by optical and radio observations. We propose the first hard X-ray spectroscopy of these SNRs clearly associated with the giant HII regions.
