SEARCH FOR THE GALACTIC RIDGE EMISSION IN THE FORNAX SPHEROIDAL GALAXY

ABSTRACT

In order to solve the mystery of the Galactic ridge emission, we proposa a 100 ks deep pointing onto the Fornax dwarf spheroidal galaxy. This object is of such a poor system that neither supernova remnants nor white dwarfs are expected to make detectable (quasi-) diffuse emission. Thus the system is free from two possible explanations of the ridge emission. Nevertheless, the magnetic coronal mechanism, another mechanism proposed for the ridge emission, may wrok and produce a detectable diffuse emission.
