INVERSE COMPTON X-RAYS FROM LOBES OF THE RADIO GALAXY 4C73.08

ABSTRACT

ASCA's new method of measuring magnetic fields of radio galaxies using the inverse-Compton scattered photon which does not assume equipartition has had a remarkable success. We propose further investigation on this problem with another giant radio galaxy, 4C73.08. This source has giant radio lobes with no knots or hot-spots, and no apparent core. In addition to these characteristics, radio polarization map of this galaxy has already been obtained. By comparing with the radio results, we can expect ASCA to bring us a new aspect of figuring out magnetic field of radio lobes.
