INVESTIGATING QUIESCENT TOADS WITH ASCA

ABSTRACT

A class of tremendous outburst amplitude dwarf novae (TOADs) has been identified, which show similar minimum light properties as soft X-ray transients (SXTs). We propose to make ASCA observations of three quiescent TOADs. These will allow us to make fundamental tests, using model fits to the obtained X-ray spectra in quiescence, of the minimum state accretion disk, mass transfer rates, and search for spin modulations from the white dwarf primary.
