Subject: SUPERNOVA REMNANTS AND GALACTIC DIFFUSE EMISSION

DETERMINING THE ABUNDANCES OF THE LMC FROM SUPERNOVA REMNANTS

ABSTRACT

We continue our study of the supernova remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) with the goal of further determining the gas-phase LMC metal abundances. New ASCA observations of two remnants 0534-69.9 and 0543-68.9 are proposed. These remnants are among the largest/oldest in the sample and as such will provide a test of the effects of differing evolutionary states on the derivation of abundances from SNR X-ray spectroscopy.
