UNIDENTIFIED HARD X-RAY SOURCES NEAR THE GALACTIC CENTER

ABSTRACT

The Galactic Center region is a treasury of X-ray stars. We here focus the unidentified hard X-ray sources --- probably a black-hole candidate (BHC). A few BHCs in the Galactic Center region is eccentric and out of the general scheme of BHCs. There exists possibly an another category of BHCs. We try to make clear the hypothesis by investigating some unidentified BHCs. On the other hand, measuring X-ray absorption is the good method to study the mass from the source to us. We have made an effort to study the mass distribution of our Galaxy by this method with ASCA data, and succeeded to an extent, though the sample is rather less. In this work, we expect to increase the number of samples, and will be able to estimate the mass distribution much exactly.
