RXJ1340.6+4018: THE EXTREMELY LUMINOUS X-RAY HALO OF THE GALAXY AND POSSIBLE FOSSIL GALAXY GROUP

ABSTRACT

We propose to observe RXJ1340.6+4018, which shows the extremely luminous and extended X-ray halo around the giant elliptical galaxy. This might be the key object for the study of evolution of galaxy and galaxy group through the merging origin of elliptical galaxy and low end of cluster formation. Observation will give us an evidence for the possible interpretation of fossil galaxy group.
