X-RAY PROPERTIES OF LOW LUMINOSITY SEYFERT 2 GALAXIES - IS HEAVY OBSCURATION IS COMMON IN LOW LUMINOSITY AGNS? -

ABSTRACT

Recent optical spectroscopic surveys showed that AGNs are more numerous than previously thought to be. While, ROSAT deep observations revealed that narrow emission line galaxies are numerous at faint flux level and their spectra are flatter than QSOs. Then they could be significant contributor to the X-ray background. We propose to observe nearby bright low luminosity Seyfert 2s to measure spectral slope, amount of absorption, iron emission lines. Our aims are (1)to understand X-ray spectral properties of low luminosity Seyfert 2 galaxies and to compare them with Seyfert galaxies higher luminosity (2)to test whether they contribute to the X-ray background or not based on their X-ray spectra.
