TWO NEW IRAS QUASARS WITH WARM ABSORBERS

ABSTRACT

We propose to observe with ASCA two new infrared-loud quasars with warm absorbers: IRAS~04392-2713 (z=0.08) and IRAS~F22497+1439 (z=0.135). While `Warm' (i.e. partially ionized) absorbers have been studied in detail in many low luminosity AGN, only a few cases have even been identified at high luminosities. Our systematic search of bright ROSAT sources in WGACAT has found a few new cases, of which two are also IRAS sources. ASCA spectra of these two quasars will allow us to test for the differences in warm absorber ionization state and column density, with luminosity and with infrared properties. Being infrared-loud the quasars may offer new examples of ``dusty-warm-absorbers'', as are half the quasar warm absorbers already known.
